Isparta is a city surrounded by lakes, known for its roses and lavender. Most of the sightseeing takes you outdoors; the surrounding lakes and valleys are the main draw rather than the city centre.

It is important to plan around the flowering seasons: lavender usually blooms in mid-July, while roses bloom in late May and early June. Lake Eğirdir and Gölcük can be visited all year round.

Before you go: key notes

When does the lavender bloom in Isparta?

Lavender in Kuyucak is usually at its best in mid-July. The window before harvest is short, so check the dates in advance.

When are roses harvested in Isparta?

Roses are harvested early in the morning between late May and mid-June.

Can you swim in Lake Eğirdir?

There are beach areas on and around Yeşilada where you can swim in summer.

Plan at a family pace: The days below are suggested itineraries. Shorten them to suit the time you spend inside museums and monuments; approximate visit lengths exclude queues and travel. Turkish citizens under 18 enter ministry-run museums and archaeological sites free; Müzekart offers access to these sites for a year.
